Student-Teacher Evaluation
The picture below is of student teacher evaluation after a social study lesson plan on the 5 main regions of the United States. Students were given the opportunity to reflect on the lesson and evaluate my teaching. Having students fill out this evaluation, helped identify area that went well in the lesson, the activities that drew them in. It also helped me identify areas that students did not enjoy or understand. For instance, the student example below identifies that although the lesson was designed to introduce the 5 main regions, this student would have liked to gone further in-depth (having a lesson that was more rigorous) and would have liked to collaborate more with his peers. Surprisingly collaboration was a common pattern between students, indicating to me that I need to include this more in further lessons. Having a student-teacher evaluation can truly be eye opening for educators as you are allowing students to have a voice, helping indicate the types of learners they are.

Why I Reflect On My Lessons
Being a reflective practitioner is more than just summarizing your lessons and observing what happens in the classroom. It is about assessing oneself and analyzing the information, to plan for improvement. On a daily basis, I reflect on how I can improve my effectiveness in the classroom and how I can reach new academic boundaries with my class. Before instructing a lesson, I make sure to try and design a lesson that meets the needs of all students in my classroom, to help them better understand the concepts at hand. With this being said, there is always room for improvement; thus why I reflect on everything taught, whether it is self-study notes, bullet point or in depth descriptions, I am always trying to find ways to improve my teaching. While student teaching, reflection plays a large role in the success of my lessons. I often conversed with my mentor teacher, gaining new insight and wrote detailed reflective notes. Below are some artifacts that exemplify my reflection process.

Self Study
The purpose of a my self study video and self grading rubric is to examine and analyze my own teaching practice, identify evidence of student learning and areas of struggle, identify areas in which I need to continue to grow in my own teaching practice and reflect on my professional practice and growth. The self study example below was taken during the first semester of my internship in a fourth grade classroom, during an SFA lesson. SFA is a guided reading program, geared towards the success for all student learners.
